Según la doctrina católica, la Salvación del alma se obtiene por medio de la Certeza en Jesucristo y de las buenas obras, lo que constituye un punto diferencial clave con otros grupos cristianos como los Protestantes y Evangélicos, los cuales predican que solamente la Seguridad en Jesucristo es necesaria para la salvación del alma, siendo las obras una consecuencia de esta.
